Consisting of 11 subsidiaries, Nestoil Group is one of Nigeria's most successful internationally focused EPC company.

In 2008, Oconn Systems was contacted to redesign the Nestoil Group Website to modernise the design, improve user-friendliness and clarify the group's ability to deliver on project promise.
The Nestoil Group website is updated periodically by a designated staff, without technical know-how, using Oconn Systems' custom built CMS, siteBoss. The website was recently retouched and the CMS restructured in Jan., 2011.

 

Visit site: The Small Business Radio Show
Sponsored by the Shell Petroleum Development Company, The Small Business Radio Show is currently aired on 5 stations across the Niger Delta area of Nigeria.

As an SPDC initiative, the Show first aired in August 2009 and this website for Show was launched in 2010 (about a year after). New widgets to deepen listeners participation were added to the site in January 2011.

Audio recording of each edition is available for convinient listening 48 hours after the live broadcast in Port Harcourt.

Though siteBoss is attached to the site, the updating of the site was passed on to us in Jan., 2011 to allow the Show's producers more space to focus on their core business: programme production.

The Church of God Mission in Woji is administrative head and Christian Worship centre Headquater to 4 provinces (with a total of about 48 Church branches spread across Rivers State) of the Church of God Mission.

The website incorporates the streaming of Audio and Video messages. This site is managed using siteBoss

 

 

Visit site: Edwin Okolie
The initial site for the campaign effort of Mr. Edwin Okolie (the MD/CEO of the popular Wine Bar) HopeAlive2011 was according to him a waste of resources. We were approached to create not just a website but a little social place for the business man turned politician (running for the Federal House of Representative). We met his satisfaction. The site holds his campaign video.

A one month ad on Facebook drew about 2, 500 visits to the site.

PSGN is an educational consulting firm providing students and parents access to globally relevant international education as well provides travel counselling.
After abandoning the previous online presence due to "poor design and irrelevance", management contacted Oconn in November 2009. We delivered a site that, according to the Managing Director of the company, "inspires us to work harder and make this business grow. We are proud enough to ask people to visit our website"— these words were a shadow of her expression.

To reflect the inclusion of new services and achieve new ideas, we were asked to redesign and update the website in January, 2011.

INTRANET DEVELOPMENT

We joined a partnering firm, to deliver the first phase of a workforce unifying Intranet to an Indigenous oil exploring firm, PanOcean Oil Corp. (POOC), one of the 7 NNPC Joint Venture Companies.

Technology & Tools:
Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 (MOSS), Visual Studio, Visual Basic.NET, Microsoft Outlook 2007, Microsoft Office Excel 2007, SQL Server 2008, WFC, ASP.NET, XHTML; CSS; Adobe Fireworks; Adobe Photoshop

Project Objective:

1. Develop a Workforce Unifying Intranet platform.
2. Reduce the use of paper through electronic business processing.
3. Reduce excuses within staff in obligation fulfillment.
4. Increase financial accountability through proper electronic approvals of consumable needs and expenses.
5. Deliver an extranet gateway that allows access to the Intranet when outside the Company's network.

Result:
The POOC Intranet provides a platform for collaboration between member staff and departments. It is powered by a messaging server, a domain controlling server and the actual deployment server. The domain controller also hosts the extranet for use secure of the Intranet outside the Company’s firewall.

The Intranet features a widget for searching the Active Directory for employees (Phone numbers) and corresponding email addresses as well as various sections (websites) for each department. Business Processes (including IT Services Request, Vehicle Request, Guest House Maintenance Request, etc) are powered by ASP.Net Web Forms attached to Workflows. It also provides organisation wide News items, Weekly Blogs and Birthday reminder features.

Halogen, an eAppraisal Software was integrated for access on the Intranet.

 

DATABASE DEVELOPMENT:

Nestoil Group
In 2008, we were required to deliver a Content Management System that will be attached to the Group's external website. The database was restructured in between November and January 2011.

This project mark the brith of our in-house custom built Content Management System, siteBoss.

Project Objective:

1. With the functunal back-end Database, using siteBoss, the CMS enable designated staff to manage the content on the Website's Equitment, Project, News and Career pages.
2. Staff training on the CMS usability.

Result:
This maintenance allows editing, deletion, and archiving of the site's content without the need of a technical web developer, resulting in prompt site update.

 

 

The Small Business Radio Show
The website requirement included the archiving of past editions (Audio recordings, past Topics and Guests). It was also part of the deliverables to provide a CMS that connects the Database (containing the programmes past and present content) to the visible public website.

1. Make the bi-weekly updates of the Website non-technical.

Church of God Mission Headquaters, Woji
The Church's leadership needed to provide website update that include Audio and Video streaming, Upcoming event alert, Inspirational articles, etc.

We created a back-end of Database tables that hold the records of the required content which is then dynamically presented in formated HTML for the public to see.

We conducted a one-day workshop on the CMS usability as part of the handover finalities.

Result:
This development approach allows the Church Secretary, who is not a web designer, to update the website as appriate.

 

PanOcean Oil Corp. (POOC), an Indigenous oil exploring firm needed to have a Data storage of internal activities for easy retrieval, storage and analysis via an Intranet Web Portal.

Technology & Tools:
SQL Server 2008; VB.NET, ASP.NET; XHTML; CSS; Adobe Fireworks; Adobe Photoshop

Project Objective:

1. Create the back end needed for the Company's Intranet.
2. By modeling current Business Logic, provide data structure for organization business rules and processes.
3. Articulate and streamline current Business Logic during the development of Workflows.
4. Provide administrative departments resource records from list of drivers to beverages. 
5. Provide friendly database entry and retrieval points with the Intranet as front-end.

Result:
The database features a data grid view that enables management and departmental heads to view data of interest easily. Using role security level permissions, access to data entry forms is restricted to approved designated staff.

By converting departmental activities to stored procedures and functions and using the Intranet as front-end, certain data trigger workflows while others generate data that are subsequently entered into associated tables without the initiator knowing.

 

Outsourcing and Training

RECRUITMENT:

Kwizbud LLC
Kwizbud LLC is a US based firm with an eye to claim a niche in Social Media.Having worked with us on the on-going development of their one-stop quiz site, Kwizbud.com, we were contacted to carry out a recruitment exercise for the engagement of a Web Developer.

As a result of that outsourced exercise, Kwizbud now has on her team the Web Developer they had been searching for in the last two years.

 

CJ Energy Services Limited
CJ Energy is an Oil Servicing firm currently handling a series of inspection services for the Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria. Between September 2010 and January 2011, we conducted separate interviews for the recruitment of Computer savvy Receptionists and Office Assistants.

Rivers State Bureau on Public Procurement (RSBoPP)
For the Website, Database and Intranet development RFT (Request For Tender) at the new River State Bureau on Public Procurement (RSBoPP), Oconn Systems was invited to:

1. Review and deepen the deliverables of the initial Scope of Work, to ensure it is all encompassing.
2. Oversee the bid presentation of proposal with specific enphasis on evaluating the technical capabilities of the 6 Vendor Companies represented, using project adherence to global standards, relevance of operational history, articulation of proposal and the structure of the various organisation as benchmark.
3. Present a report on the (2) above.

If utilized, the assessment report subsequently submitted will afford the Buearu the best solutions never before seen in the state.

The Small Business Today Radio Show
The website for the Show (www.SmallBusinessRadioShow.com) includes our in-house developed CMS, siteBoss.
Due to the expansion of the programme to a total of 5 Radio Stations (from a previous 3), after 3 months of using siteBoss, the Producers of the Show decided it was time to move the maintenance to us to allow them more time to focus on their core business: programme production.
